SO WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE STRONG SMELL YESTERDAY?

The SCDF and NEA has moved to quell Singaporeans fear that the strong burning and chemical smell in the North Eastern part of Singapore yesterday was not caused by by any toxic industrial substances in the air and that air quality during the period had been well within safety limits.

However, while the assurances means that we are not under any toxic air, both agencies failed to address the source of the smell and smoke.

IMPOSE 3/4 FUEL TANK RULE FOR CARS LEAVING SG, WE SHOULDN'T BE SO CHEAPO!

<Reader Contribution by Nanny>

I am actually pleased with the authorities planning to impose 3/4 fuel tank rule for diesel cars too. With so many private hire cars and also many rich cheapos driving diesel cars on the roads now, it's about time we do something like this, otherwise our checkpoints will be jammed like nobody's business.

I understand that there are ways to outdo it it to install a device in the car to ensure that fuel tank gauge only points to 3/4 mark and it's widely available in Malaysia. Please check on the spot when the car arrives at the checkpoint and ban this device from being installed in Singapore registered cars, and if any cars were found to have that device installed, kindly impound the cars and make sure that device is removed before the car is allowed to be in the roads and also fine the driver for that.

S'PORE CAR SJZ8479U PUMP PETROL @ JB CALTEX & DROVE OFF, MAKCIK STAFF FORCED TO PAY FOR HIM

Singapore registered car SJZ8479U pumped petrol at JB Caltex CIQ but "forget" to pay money. The poor kiosk attendant had to pay out of her own pocket hundred over ringgit. This has nothing to do with nationality but I hope the culprit will faster appear and pay back the money to the makcik attendant. She has been crying over this incident for a few days. This money may be little to you but it means the world to her.

STOP GOVERNMENT & OIL COMPANIES FROM PROFITING AT S'POREANS EXPENSE!

The current oil price might drop to $10 a barrel. It's time for the Singapore government to lower household electric tariff, gas and petrol cost? While in US, the price of petrol and gas have been falling tremendously. As such, US citizens are paying much lower than before for petrol, gas and fuel cost. Surprisingly, major petroleum companies and Singapore Power have not lower the price and continue to make huge profits from consumers.

CASE WATCHDOG ACCUSE PETROL COMPANIES OF PROFITEERING FROM PETROL DUTY HIKE

Noting that some of the petrol prices were raised beyond the levels of the duty hike, Mr Seah Seng Choon, executive director of the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), said it was understandable for the petrol companies to increase prices following the levy hike. But he pointed out: “They should not increase more than what the tax requires them to and if they do that, they are profiteering from the situation.”
