Our reader highlighted the lackluster employment scene in Singapore despite presidential hopeful Halimah Yacob's praise about gaining much from the years she spent fighting for workers' rights. He believed it is only fair if the President was never from the ruling party as it defeats the purpose of checking on the Government.

Our reader who is a resident of Marsiling-Yew Tee finds it undemocratic for the ruling party to play around with the Constitution and have Mdm Halimah Yacob quit the party in order to run for the Presidential election. I refer to the ongoing saga and persecution of the elected WP MPs, which clearly shows the government's intent to remove them right from the start via the ongoing lawsuit against them.

In a surprising turn of events, even former NMP and pro-PAP supporter Calvin Cheng has come out to say that the lawsuit against Workers' Party (WP) town councillors will end up strengthening the political position of the WP rather than harming it.
