Former NTUC president and Member of Parliament Phey Yew Kok was charged today for offences that he committed more than 3 decades ago. He had been charged with 4 counts of criminal breach of trust amounting to $83,000 in December 1979, but had jumped bail and fled Singapore in 1980 to escape his charges. At the time, he also faced 2 charges under the Trade Unions Act for investing $18,000 of trade union money in a private supermarket without the approval of the minister.

3 students turned up for their graduation ceremonies last week at Nanyang Polytechnic with hoods that covered their entire faces. 1 of the students even chose to receive his graduation certificate on stage with the hood still on. The other 2 had removed their hoods when they went on stage to receive their certificates. The student who remained hooded is a graduating student from the NYP School of Interctive and Digital Media. The school director Daniel Tan and the prankster's fellow students were not surprised by his antic, however, as they said "creativity" is common in their school.
