NSP SUPPORTER: WE ARE STILL IN THE GAME, GIVE US TIME TO PROVE OURSELVES

In recent weeks, everyone has been asking whether NSP is a sell out party or a mole. They call us No Solidarity Party, accused us of dividing opposition votes and diluting the opposition unity. Although hurtful, I can understand why people cast doubts on us. Our party is not perfect. There are internal differences in views at times. Sometimes things do not work out as cleanly as we like. But to cast us as PAP moles or a useless party is unfair and cruel.

NSP PRESIDENT: OPPONENTS TRYING TO DISCREDIT & DAMAGE MY REPUTATION

In recent days, my past convictions have been used by opponents of the National Solidarity Party to try to discredit and damage my reputation and that of the Party. I make this statement to explain the facts behind my convictions, in order that the fair-minded and gracious people of Singapore, can judge for themselves whether the criticisms levelled at me personally are fair.

DEAR NSP IGNORE THE PEOPLE’S VOICES & SEE IT BACKFIRE IN YOUR FACE

With all respect Steve Chia and NSP CEC, you and your CEC have taken the narrow and disregarded the wide. The narrow refers to your interests in your own party … and to an extent, your followers. The wide refers to the current political situation that Singapore and Singaporeans find themselves in today. All I can say is that this will most likely backfire and set your party back to a stage where it might not be recoverable.

ISN’T IT DESPICABLE FOR NSP’S STEVE CHIA TO SABO OPPOSITION UNITY IN MACPHERSON?

I am not in support of smearing but, specific to Steve Chia, is it not despicable to sabotage Opposition unity to lobby NSP to rescind an earlier announcement of not contesting in Macpherson? Is it not despicable to walk out on his Pioneer SMC, to contest in another SMC without first addressing his potential voters why. Although I do not support smearing, I somehow think this is the result of his own doing.

NETIZENS CHEER HAZEL POA BUT JEER AT STEVE CHIA

On Monday (17 Aug), the Central Executive Council of NSP decided to support its member Steve Chia’s wish to contest MacPherson SMC, resulting in a 3-cornered fight against WP and PAP. NSP Acting Secretary-General Hazel Poa strongly disagreed with the CEC’s decision. However, she was outvoted and hence decided to resign from the party. She announced her resignation from NSP to the press on Wednesday

WHY THE HOT-BLOODED FIGHT OVER MACPHERSON SMC?

WP are very smart in a sense where they stick to their plans and play the waiting game, letting the action and drama play out in NSP which affects only NSP’s image, not theirs. Lesson 1, the one who strategize in the long-term, instead of making quick decisions rashly, only gains to win. Bigger shark eating smaller fish. Lesson 2, more power = more control over the playing field = less prominent parties will give way to us. Does this mean more parties will have to give way to WP in the future?

NSP IS NOT OUT TO HARM OPPOSITION UNITY, IT IS A PARTY WITH PROUD ANTI-PAP HISTORY!

For the seats won by any opposition party in this GE (perhaps also the last GE), all opposition parties and candidates have made a contribution in unison by ensuring all constituencies are contested. With all seats contested, the likelihood of a free agent in the PAP's slate of candidates crossing boundaries to help campaigning becomes very unlikely and probably left to retiring MPs which holds little weight. This effect was observable in GE 2011. Very likely will repeat this year.
