7-YEAR OLD SUICIDE BOMBER KILLS FIVE IN NIGERIA

A female suicide bomber thought to be as young as seven has blown herself up killing five people at a market in north eastern Nigeria. The young girl, who had explosives strapped to her, detonated the bomb at a security checkpoint in the town of Potiskum. Witnesses say she refused to be searched at the gate to the market and after an ensuing argument, she let off the bomb, killing five others and injuring 19 people.

TTSH CEO: NIGERIAN WOMAN ADMITTED DOES NOT HAVE EBOLA

The Nigerian woman who was sent from Gleneagles Hospital to the Communicable Diseases Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) on Thursday morning does not have Ebola as first feared. Professor Philip Choo, TTSH's chief executive officer, told The Straits Times that it was a false alarm and that she has since been discharged. "We saw a patient with a history from Nigeria," he said, but her detailed history revealed "no contact with any suspect or confirmed patients."

SHOCKING: YOUNG GIRLS HIDE EXPLOSIVES UNDER THEIR HIJAB

Women in north Nigeria's largest city Kano are abandoning their traditional religious dress after a spate of suicide bombings by young girls with explosives under their hijab. The commercial city was hit last month by four separate attacks involving teenaged girls in the Muslim dress, leaving at least nine people dead and scores more injured. Although no one has claimed responsibility for the bombings, fingers have been pointed at Boko Haram, the Islamist militants blamed for a string of attacks on the city.
