New Creation Church had, over the weekend, a divisive pro-Christian preacher Col Stringer as their guest speaker. Nothing out of the ordinary, until you consider that Col Stringer is well known for his divisive religious views. Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam had gone on record in the heavy metal band Watain being banned as saying that threats to social and religious harmony in Singapore cannot be tolerated, but how come Col Stringer can pass through stringent checks?

KONG HEE CONVICTED, IS NCC’S JOSEPH PRINCE NEXT?
Before the City Harvest trial, it was a fact even on New Creation Church's website that if u wanted to be a registered church member, one of the criteria u had to meet was to tithe a minimum of 6 months! After the CHC trial, NCC effectively removed such statement from their site and toned down on preaching prosperity. Even its senior pastor, Joseph Prince claimed to stop taking church salary and rely on his book royalties, though he never affirmed nor denied that he earned $50,000 a month. I can assure u that he did, as told by an NCC insider, a family friend, who worked for him 4 years before the fact was exposed.

Last week, the New Creation Church rubbished claims by United States-based entertainment website Richest Lifestyle that its founding member and senior pastor Joseph Prince drew a salary of $550,000 a year and had a net worth of US$5 million (S$6.4 million). The God of my personal faith would have applauded it as an act of filial piety. The God i know doesn’t give a shit about holding two sticks for a couple of minutes for a greater cause. If you are a Christian thinking: since you are not following what the church wants us to do, why do you even see yourself as a Christian, then ok – i am not a Christian. I would rather stand by the God i believe in, who propounds most fundamentally love for others, doing good out of this love, and not doing harm to others – and not be considered a ‘real’ Christian, than adopt practices i don’t believe in just to reduce cognitive dissonance of being a stranded believer of God without shelter from a ‘legitimate’ religious institution. And this is where my divergent views from the church (of course not all churches la, just the ones i’ve observed/gone to) come into play.
