LEE KUAN YEW: S’PORE PRs ARE VETTED CAREFULLY BEFORE THEY CAN BECOME NEW CITIZENS

Mr Lee said that 10per cent of the pool of foreigners here are new PRs, while another 20per cent are PRs who have been here for some time. THE government looks closely at permanent residents' (PRs) contributions to Singapore before deciding which ones can become citizens, said Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew on Sunday night at a Tanjong Pagar GRC event. 'So please put up with the new immigrants. We are very careful about who becomes a citizen,' he said, responding to criticisms over the growing influx of foreigners living and working here.

SAF TO TAKE IN VOLUNTEER CORPS NEXT MARCH

The Singapore Armed Forces will take in its first volunteer corps next March but will not be aiming for "mass numbers", Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said on Thursday. He was speaking at a dinner event to honour 300 volunteers who serve on the Defence Ministry's 41 boards, panels and committees.

Integration Council explores ways to bring new immigrants and Singaporeans together

The People’s Association Integration Council will be adopting three approaches to bring new immigrants and Singaporeans together to promote integration in the community. It will intensify local integration efforts at the neighbourhood level through Residents’ Committees (RCs) and Neighbourhood Committees (NCs). To generate greater awareness of integration efforts, the Integration Council will involve like-minded youths to be youth integration ambassadors.

Eventually the People’s Power Movement broke out and army generals previously loyal to Marcos defected to Corazon Aquino’s side. And the rest is history. Today in Singapore, a UNIQUE kind of VOTE manipulation seemed to be taking place. PAP’s aggressive importation of voters from aboard – beginning from China and India but more recently, from the Philippines. Desperate to escape the vicious cycle of poverty and crime back in their home country, many Filipinos willingly come to Singapore to settle, work and take up the Pink Identification Card offered to them like pancakes by the current PAP regime.

New citizen: Don’t disturb Indonesia lah!

I am a new citizen. Recently, I got a bit worried you making all this noise about Indonesia. Can you don’t rock the boat? I convert to citizen because Singapore is good place to make money. And raise my children. Education, housing and healthcare got discount mah. This Konfrontasi thing happen so long ago!! Who cares?? Hay … the Japanese tortured and killed Singaporeans (and Chinese in China) during WW2, and recently this PM Abe visited Yasukuni shrine .. isn’t that more serious? How come you never protest? Or cancel meetings with Japan?
