STUDENT: LIMOUSINE TAXI DRIVER GAVE ME FARE DISCOUNT DURING NEL MRT BREAKDOWN

Yesterday the NEL was disrupted during morning peak period and unlucky me was taking my O level maths paper. After a long 1 hour wait for taxi, I finally got one but it is those premium limousine taxi that is very expensive and I only have $50 with me. At my school, the fare was $58 but I only had $50 with me. The nice taxi uncle told me its okay and took just $40 and told me to keep $10 for my lunch. He somemore told me to relax for exam and wish me luck.

NEL PASSENGER WHOSE LEG GOT STUCK WAS PUSHED BY SOMEONE

Train service was delayed for about half an hour on the North-East Line (NEL) on Thursday morning after a woman's leg got stuck in the platform gap. SBS Transit, which runs the NEL, said the woman lost her balance after she was pushed while standing in the train near the door at the North-East Line Boon Keng Station at about 8.06am.

SBS TRANSIT: PART OF NEL TRAIN SERVICE STILL DOWN SINCE MORNING

Train services on North East Line between the Punggol and Sengkang stations are still unavailable since the disruption began around 6am this morning, said SBS Transit in a statement today (Aug 21). SBS Transit expects full service to resume this afternoon, and has deployed more than 20 engineers to conduct recovery works on track. It said the disruption was caused by the dislocation of parts supporting a power supply line, resulting in power being cut between the Punggol and Sengkang stations.

SMRT SHARES SOARED 20% AMID SPECULATIONS OF GOVERNMENT BUYOVER

LISTED public transport operator SMRT Corp's shares yesterday staged their biggest-ever one-day gain in recent memory, soaring almost 20 per cent, as investors speculated that a plan for SMRT to sell its rail assets to the Government was imminent. Shares of rival rail operator SBS Transit and its parent company ComfortDelGro also rose 7 per cent and 3 per cent respectively. Market watchers said punters may be assuming that SBS Transit will do likewise with operating assets of its North-East Line.
