Organisers of the Speak Mandarin Campaign has apologised for their neglect and typo of the Chinese word "read" in the phrase "listen, speak, read, write". "The Speak Mandarin Campaign regrets the erroneous rendering of the character '读' as '渎' at the Official Launch yesterday, as these are two distinct characters with different meanings. The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) has confirmed that it is investigating a childcare centre at Jalan Mutiara for serious lapses in safety, well being and welfare of its children. The center is believed to be Sam's Early Learning Centre.

A childcare center located at Jalan Mutiara has been exposed by online parent forum Kiasu Parents for allegedly neglecting the children under their care. Several photos of the children sleeping on the floor without beds, eating rotten fruit and food and being left alone without supervision were posted online as evidence.

The dog adoption community has been up in arms recently over a spate of deaths which have struck dogs adopted by a Facebook user, "Miranda Tham". According to recent posts by Lena Tan and Sharon Tan on SPCA Facebook, the woman had allegedly adopted 3 dogs on 3 separate occasions. However, these dogs died within days of their adoption, either due to neglect or accidents.
