WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR DIABETES TREATMENT DESPITE USING MEDISAVE?

Our reader went for a diabetes checkup following PM Lee's rally only to find that he had to pay extra even though he wanted the hospital to charge it to his Medisave account. When asked for a reason, the hospital staff simply said "I don't know". What kind of service is this?

Our reader thinks Singapore must not be compared to China in terms of cashless payments as we are two very different countries. A Smart Nation should not be smart just for the sake of it. What's the point of "going smart" when people still lack graciousness or if children do not understand the value of money?

The Taskforce is studying a possible "sugar tax" on sweetened drinks, as well as implementing warning labels and advertising restrictions on sweetened beverages. Details are not available about this measure yet as the Taskforce is in the midst of consulting with industry stakeholders.
