A viral photo of a discriminatory notice pasted on an entrance outside Kallang Leisure Mall has caused outrage among Singaporeans (above). The sign, which reads, "NO ENTRY TO ALL NDP UNIFORME PERSONNEL", was found plastered on the glass door of one of the mall's entrances. The notice specifically targets Nationa Day Parade (NDP) uniform groups who have been rehearsing tireless over the past few weekends for the upcoming National Day Parade - which is widely expected to be one of the grandest in Singapore's history as Singapore celebrates it golden jubilee anniversary.

I see the pride in the junior red lions who trained alongside Red Lions (parachutists from full time uniformed personnel). Barely 11 years old they learnt sky diving. The floating platform is a sea of red and white as faces are painted with our national flag and participants at NDP wore red and white. It is prideful to see young and old together at NDP, cheering or clapping at the festivities.

I fly my flag because I love my country and want to show the world that I stand united with my fellow Singaporeans, regardless of race, language, religion and political affiliation. We will be a laughing stock if we continually complain about the influx of foreigners, yet do not even bother to fly our flag in the lead-up to National Day. How would other countries view us? Would they regard us as a country united on the surface but divided at the core?
