Chef Bob Says Sinkies Should Not Complain About $7.50 Nasi Padang, If They Pay Same Price For Cafe Teh

The Nasi Padang generally comes with rice and about two or three servings of vegetables and meat combine, and they can cost anywhere from $6 to about $7.50. Chef Bob argued that these signature drinks are basically nothing more than teh with ice that has been given fanciful name. And the drinks can cost anywhere between $6 to $7.50.

EVEN WE MALAYS CANNOT TAHAN HIGH PRICES @ NASI PADANG STALLS ANYMORE

I urge your readers to better avoid nasi padang stalls in future if you can help it. Be it hawker or foodcourt, the price is equally shocking. Recently, i went to the hawker center to buy breakfast, just one mee goreng and a meat pau and it cost $5 already! Although the sign said 1 vegetable, 1 meat and rice cost only $3.30, when he ordered rice, bean sprout, asam fish and 2 table spoon of sambal sotong, it costs him a whopping $7.20. Even I as a malay cannot tahan the way they anyhow count the food prices, the price shoot up like rocket. Tak boleh tahan harga naik!!!

NASI PADANG STALL OVERCHARGED ME FOR A LOUSY LUNCH, THINK THEY HIGH CLASS RESTAURANT

Imagine to my surprise, I ordered a Nasi Padang with chicken, potato begedil and some veggie, and i was charged $7 for the meal! Nothing fancy, just one meat and two veggie, and I got charged $7! How is this possible? Prices go up so drastically? Not even eating at some air-conditioned place, just the Geylang Serai market! Like this might as well eat at fancy restaurants. How do these stall owners break down their pricing in the first place? They might just have plucked out some figure from the air, and if they don't like your face, then you will be charged more!

NEA TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST NORTHPOINT NASI PADANG STORE

On Thursday, State Coroner Marvin Bay ruled the boy's death a misadventure. Checks had found unsafe levels of bacteria at the Nasi Padang stall due to various hygiene lapses.

Famous Nasi Padang River Valley to close by end March

After selling nasi padang for 57 years, the famous Nasi Padang River Valley at Zion Road will close its doors on March 28. Co-owner Hariz Pua, 57, cites the lack of manpower, rising rental costs and high food costs as the main reasons for the closure. He also admits on a sombre note that this closure had been pending for some time now, especially since the dinner period has been "quiet". For the past few months, the outlet closed two hours earlier at 7pm instead of the usual 9pm. Mr Pua runs the stall, which is popular for its beef rendang, curry chicken and sambal sotong, with the second-generation owner of the outlet, Mr Zulfa Hamid, whose mother started selling nasi padang in River Valley back in 1957.

HEALTH WARNING: BECAREFUL OF WHAT YOU EAT AT MIXED VEGGIES STALL

From my observation, only those Malay stalls seem more hygienic than the Chinese or Indian food stalls. I have yet to come across Malay stalls out-sourced to FTs. The Malay stalls are usually run by locals. That is why Malay food usually costs more than Chinese food. I would rather pay more for Malay cooked food than those Chinese cooked food
