MOE REJECTS NUS MUSIC GRADUATE AMIS APPLICATION BECAUSE HE DID NOT PROVIDE ABRSM GRADE 5 QUALIFICATION

An NUS music graduate looking to renew his Arts and Music Instructor Scheme (AMIS) licence has been rejected by the Ministry of Education because he did not furnish them with at least an The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) grade 5 qualification even though he attached his Bachelor of Music degree as his highest professional music qualification. An ABRSM grade 5 is equivalent to GCSE 'O' levels. Does MOE think that a music degree from our local university is not as good as a lesser qualification from a UK examinations board?

ALFIAN SAAT: MOST S’POREANS SUPPORT THE HINDU’S RIGHT TO RELIGION

To my Hindu friends, I just want to say that I believe that the majority of Singaporeans do not support this kind of heavy-handed and iron-fisted approach to a community's religious rights. I think I speak on their behalf when I say that the government is not acting on our behalf with this ban. What is the whole point of having 'Inter-Racial and Religious Circles' when the state can't recognise the fundamental religious liberties of a community?
