Two Pakistani men arrested for legless body in suitcase at Syed Alwi Road

Police have arrested two male Pakistani nationals, aged 25 and 43, in connection with the case where a body was found at Syed Alwi Road on Wednesday night. The suspects were arrested on Thursday (June 12) at about 3.00 pm at the vicinity of Rowell Road. A statement from the police said: "Through a coordinated operation involving more than 100 officers, the identities of the suspects and deceased were established within 24 hours of the report lodged."

Fatal stabbing of cabby: No grounds for death penalty

China man who kept 6 sex slaves executed

China yesterday (Jan 21) executed a man who held six women as sex slaves in an underground prison and killed two of them, state news agency Xinhua said, in a crime which shocked the nation. Li Hao, 36, was convicted of murder and rape in Luoyang Intermediate People’s Court in the central province of Henan in 2012, Xinhua said.

Man who stabbed mother to death acquitted on grounds of temporary insanity

SINGAPORE: He loved his mother, who lived with his family, but under the heavy influence of drugs, Mohamed Redha Abdul Mutalib stabbed her to death two years ago in their Eunos Crescent flat. In what is believed to be a rare case, the former healthcare assistant at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) was on Wednesday acquitted of murdering Asnah Aziz on grounds of temporary insanity. Issuing his verdict, High Court judge Tay Yong Kwang said Redha, 32, was of unsound mind and incapable of knowing his act constituted murder.
