The fake impersonator page, Salleh Marican For President, and Mothership.sg have come under fire from the presidential hopeful's team after the former published remarks about the hijab under his name without authorization, while the former wrongly attributed those same comments to him.

Readers of Mothership.sg encountered a problem that seemed to be their website being hacked. The website had displayed 'hang on, mothershit is getting its shit together hahhahahahah'.

In addition to this enforcement of copyright could be extremely damaging to free speech because it makes open platforms for user generated content like mothership, all Singapore Stuff etc. economically untenable. This is extremely devasting as these websites could be hit with copyright blocks (Especially to shut out opposition) because of a single picture of Lee Hsien Loong.

Two sociopolitical sites, earlier notified by the the Media Development Authority (MDA) that they are required to register under the Broadcasting Act, will comply. They are The Middle Ground (TMG), co-founded by ex-journalist Bertha Henson, and Mothership.sg, which is backed by a social enterprise known as Project Fisher-Men.

The MDA said it had assessed that the website meets the registration criteria and it must register by April 11. This is as it promotes or discusses political issues relating to Singapore, and is "structured as a corporate entity which is deemed to be more susceptible to coming under foreign influence through foreign funding". It added that the registration will not in any way affect what mothership.sg can publish on its site.
