ACRES CAUGHT PYTHON IN 2 MINS BUT CAN'T CATCH SEGAR RD MONKEYS

A 2m long python was found at a bicycle parking area near Blk 113 Potong Pasir. A passer by was walking his dog nearby when he noticed the python and called for help.

He was worried as the area is home to childcare centres and was afraid it might harm the children there.

ACRES reportedly rushed to the scene and caught the python in only 2 minutes. They informed people not to provoke one if they see it in future as it does not usually target humans.

How come ACRES can catch python in 2 minutes but cannot catch monkeys?

FEEDING WILD ANIMALS ACTUALLY DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD TO THEM

When will people ever learn that feeding wild animals just for their own personal gain, or thinking that the animals need to be fed, are actually doing these animals more harm than good? A nature photographer was fined yesterday for flouting the law by feeding the birds at Botanic Gardens, just to get good pictures of these birds.

The fear of humans will be eliminated if we keep doing that. The macaques are now attacking residents at Segar. The birds will lose their fear of humans, and tragic consequences may occur such as not moving away from approaching vehicles. The risk of diseases spreading should also be taken into account.

ANIMAL LOVER: LEAVE SEGAR RD MONKEYS ALONE, THEY HAVE RIGHTS TOO!

<Reader Contribution by Eunice>

Please leave the Segar rd monkeys alone! I understand a few of them have caused trouble for the residents but I'm sure there are other ways to go around this. It's cowardly to take the easy way out by resorting to catch them all. It is also inhuman!

The animals have been around for the longest time and are part of the natural environment. There must be a reason why they behave this way. And it could even be because we humans are not considerate to them in the first place?

We humans are the ones who are intruding on them! We are the ones who are destroying their environment! Animals have their rights too you know. Who are we to be so cruel to rob them of their homes?

And even if they stole food or knocked down people's plants, I'm sure it's purely accidental. They were probably just being mischievous.

It's important that we learn to treasure nature instead of taking it for granted or changing it just for our own convenience. I hope people can understand this and respect their rights by leaving them alone.

SEGAR ROAD MONKEYS GETTING MORE AGGRESSIVE, WHERE IS AVA?

In one case, a resident claimed that a monkey had bitten his three year old son last week, and also confirmed that at least three or four other people have been bitten by the monkeys. Some residents are now even afraid of stepping out of their flats. A resident said the monkey has broken items like flower pots, and his family has mostly stayed at home during the recent long weekend due to the fear of being attacked by the monkeys.

HELP! SEGAR RD MONKEYS DESTROY NEIGHBOURS PLANTS & CAUSE BIG MESS

<Reader Contribution by Dan Lim>

I live in the Segar rd area where some monkeys have been making a big mess for the past few months. They regularly climb up the block to look for food and end up destroying all my plants and pots!

Help, I am not sure how it happened as my family never left food lying around or feed the monkeys. They are not very scared of humans too. If this goes on, I worry our house will be destroyed by those monkeys!
