MOE: WP FAILED TO COMPREHEND AGO REPORT, OUR SCHOLARS DID NOT DEFAULT

In response to The Workers' Party (WP) statement on AGO's report, the following is MOE's reply: WP had cited that "More than half of the scholars selected by the AGO for test-checks failed to fulfil their scholarship obligations to Singapore." This is incorrect. The "half" that AGO flagged out were for delays in sending them letters of reminders to update their status. They are not in default.

About two weeks ago, I emailed to the Ministry of Education, with the support of concerned parents, to address the issue of propagation through the workbook 'LKY: Follow the Rainbow, Go Ride It' These youths are minors and we strongly feel that instead of corrupting their minds for partisan political interests, we should be providing them with the best in education, encourage them to speak up and think out of the box. MOE REJECTS NUS MUSIC GRADUATE AMIS APPLICATION BECAUSE HE DID NOT PROVIDE ABRSM GRADE 5 QUALIFICATION

An NUS music graduate looking to renew his Arts and Music Instructor Scheme (AMIS) licence has been rejected by the Ministry of Education because he did not furnish them with at least an The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) grade 5 qualification even though he attached his Bachelor of Music degree as his highest professional music qualification. An ABRSM grade 5 is equivalent to GCSE 'O' levels. Does MOE think that a music degree from our local university is not as good as a lesser qualification from a UK examinations board?

GILBERT GOH: 5 PROTOCOL PROCEDURES THAT THE POLICE SHOULD REVIEW AFTER BENJAMIN LIM’S SUICIDE

Minors who are suspected of committing a crime in school must be handled by MSF or MOE and the parents to be kept informed of what's happening. They are too young to be subjected to our police style of interrogation. The current protocol of no adult-accompaniment must be over-hauled so our minors are protected and proper legal access accorded. Lawyers must be present - I was shocked that during any police interrogation no lawyers are allowed to be present. Stop all 4-man police harassment of individuals at MRT and other public places and stop issuing meaningless police warning to activists and dissidents.
