Close Down Useless Stat Boards Like Science Centre Singapore

Looking at the way Singapore Government spends its money, I think there is a lot of room for improvement. There are many statutory boards that can be privatised and should belong to the private sector, such as Science Centre Singapore. Science centre singapore is a statutory board under MOE. They got approximately 70 million dollars of grants from the govt in the past 2 FYs under operating grants from govt and grants from other govt agencies. Cant this 70million dollars be used more prudently for other uses like building better school infrastructure or healthcare, building more ICU units?

To Close, or Not Close, Is That the Only Choice for MOE?

Instead of being for or against closing schools, how about we let parents decide whether their children would stay home to receive their education online? MOE Says Withholding Results From Students Due To Unpaid Fees Longstanding Practice

A longstanding practise certainly does not make this any right, as they did nothing but humiliate the student who by no choice of her own, got found out by the rest of her school mates that her family cannot afford to pay the 'minimal' school fees. If the MOE dare say that the amount was minimal compared to the amount given by the government to offset costs for Singaporeans, then why are they still hard up on chasing after that amount? MOE said that this was not about the money. So, what is it about then? To humiliate poor students who cannot afford to even pay a minimum sum?

MOE Withholding Original PSLE Result Slip Not A Unique Case In Singapore, Diploma Student Also Affected

However, it has since came to light that MOE is not the only education administrators who withhold certificates or results slips, just because a student faced real issues in paying their school fees. WP politician Yee Jenn Jong has also revealed that he handled a similar case a few years back, when he was helping out at an MPS in Aljunied. He stated that he was approached by a distressed student who feared that she would not be able to apply for third year courses since her school withheld the original results slip due to outstanding fees.

SCHOOL REFUSES TO COMMUNICATE ON ADHD STUDENT APPLICATION

While many other parents who are nervous about their children's performance, I have to deal with a different kind of anxiety because of the school inefficiency. My son has a ADHD condition and the school has not been very efficient in getting the approvals in time with no assurance except a call last Friday (after calls to MOE) with a non-committal of "we submitted the application".

Why then does it take so long to be approved when the Dr's report was already given since April? Till now, no response from the Principal.
