KHAW BOON WAN: I THOUGHT LIFECORP WAS AFFILIATED WITH RELIGIOUS ORGANISATION

In Parliament today (29 Jan), National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan revealed that until the recent case in Sengkang, the Government had never awarded a place-of-worship site to a company that was not affiliated to a religious organisation. “We now understand that the winning tenderer for this site, Eternal Pure Land, is actually a private company without any religious affiliation,” he said.

WHEN HOUSING BECOMES UNAFFORDABLE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Will you sit in the coffee shop and complain? Mommy, that’s what old uncles do. I belong to the Generation X who were taught from young to follow rules – study well, get a good job, and work hard to improve our lives. We don’t talk about dreams. It is a luxury. We talk about increment, promotion, upgrade and social status. We learn from the Occupy Central that Generation Y are not easily contented with just allowances, peers, social media, computer games or high-tech gadgets.

GOVT REPORT: WP-RUN ALJUNIED TOWN COUNCIL HAS PERSISTENTLY POOR PERFORMANCE

The Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council’s (AHPETC) “persistent poor performance” in several areas is of “grave public concern”, the Ministry of National Development (MND) said. The comments were made in the annual Town Council Management Report, released on Tuesday (Nov 4), which assesses the 16 town councils on five indicators – estate cleanliness, estate maintenance, lift performance, service and conservancy charges (S&CC) arrears management and corporate governance. The town councils’ performance is rated in three bands – green, amber or red.
