MH370: Govt open to using ‘bomohs’

The government welcomes any help to trace missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 including from “bomohs” (shamans) so long as their methods do not contravene Islam, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom. “We appreciate all help…but where it comes to mysticism, the methods used must conform to Islamic teachings,” he told reporters after attending the 35th National-level Quran Recital Programme here today. The programme was opened by Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

The Navy men and women who serve aboard the stealth frigate RSS Steadfast and the missile corvette RSS Vigour had spent much of Saturday preparing their warships for fast and urgent duty after a Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Boeing 777-200 with 239 POB disappeared without a trace off Vietnam. The RSN activated its standby forces while Singapore slept. Duty personnel were mustered before dawn and off they went.

Malaysian Home Minister: Passengers who used stolen European passports were of Asian appearance

Malaysia’s state news agency quoted Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as saying the passengers using the stolen European passports were of Asian appearance, and criticising border officials who let them through. “I am still perturbed. Can’t these immigration officials think? Italian and Austrian (passport holders) but with Asian faces,” he was quoted as saying yesterday. Nearly 48 hours after the last contact with Flight MH370, mystery surrounded its fate. Malaysia’s air force chief said the Beijing-bound airliner may have turned back from its scheduled route before it vanished from radar screens.
