I have recently attended my MUT ICT at 2PDF. I came in with a possible of tear meniscus injury and was limping throughout the ICT and was granted by MO excuse field training. However the training officer overwrite it and insist me to be on field at Sanyong Kong camp, Pulau Tekong. I have to mount and dismount tonner with help of camp mate. Suffer pain walking on uneven grounds. Suffer from pain during sleep through the training due to intensive walking.

I was at the medical center recently for flu (genuine, in case any of you are wondering). I had duty the following day and I knew I wasn't going to be well enough to be on duty, so I wanted to get a MC or at least a light duty. Went in, saw the MO for less than 2 minutes, and got sent out to wait for my medicine. No MC. No light duty. Nothing.

During the 2011 general election, new PAP candidate Dr Janil Puthucheary, who became a new citizen in 2008, was criticised by Singaporeans for not having served NS. An interview with him was later published by the media: As for criticism that he did not serve national service, as he became a Singapore citizen at the age of 35, the paediatrician said he has been in public service: ‘I’ve spent the last 10 years saving kids’ lives.’ It is not known if Dr Puthucheary, a PAP MP and new citizen, will take the lead and show a good example by joining SAFVC when it is established. As a medical specialist, he can serve as a Medical Officer in a front-line combat unit.
