APPEAL FOR WITNESS! VAN SMASHED INTO OUR CAR & SPED OFF IN MCE

Hi friends, I am appealing for any footage regarding a hit-and-run accident which my dad was in yesterday, 01 November 2016. Please help to share this so that we can catch the culprit! My dad was travelling alone along the MCE towards the ECP at or around 5.45pm, when a van came from behind him at high speed and crashed into our family car, a Honda Civic. The van then sped off and my dad was not able to get the licence plate number as he was in a state of shock.

LTA: TRUST US! DON’T BELIEVE RUMOURS THAT SEA WATER LEAKED INTO THE MCE

Did you hear rumours about sea water leakage at Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE)? It was actually the water based fire fighting system which was triggered off at about 12.15pm yesterday. So yes, it’s business as usual along the #MCE. There’s no fire, and there’s certainly no sea water leakage. And go to your regular petrol station if you want to wash your car. Don’t believe those rumours.

IT IS NOW CHEAPER TO USE THE MARINA COASTAL EXPRESSWAY

The Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates will be adjusted in five locations from Monday (Feb 3), the Land Transport Authority announced today (Jan 28). The changes come after the LTA’s completed its quarterly review of traffic conditions on ERP-priced roads and expressways. Among the changes, the S$6 rate at a gantry on the ECP will be reduced from S$6 to S$4 between 8.30am and 9pm. On Aug 5, the rate at that gantry, near the newly opened Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE), was raised from S$4 to S$6, a record high for any ERP gantry in Singapore.

ARE YOU PROUD OF THE MARINA COASTAL EXPRESSWAY?

I have been using the Marina Coastal Expressway to commute to work since the second day of its opening. With the exception of the severe congestion at the exit to Central Boulevard on my first day driving along the expressway, the subsequent commutes have been relatively smooth. Many people have criticised the expressway’s design and the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) communication exercise, on both social and mainstream media. Some were reasonable, such as those calling for more and better signage, but others have been too quick to judge.

Singaporeans got blamed for PAP’s mistakes

I see this this as Lui shifting the blame to motorists using the MCE for the initial congestion problems on the MCE for what a user (at 11 am on the Monday day, so he had plenty of time to observe his surroundings) told me was a failure by tpt officials: “There is only one sign indicating the first exit into the city. One would have tot that based on the signage used on other expressways, there would be signs saying ‘Exit to X, 100m’ etc at regular intervals.” As the media reports a lot more signage going up since I heard this comment, I assume this problem has been fixed. And that this is the source of the problem.

Lui Tuck Yew: I prefer Marina Coastal Expressway

"We will have to be patient, look at the situation over a period of weeks. But so far, LTA (i.e. the Land Transport Authority) tells me, other than the first morning, it’s been relatively smooth, perhaps for a variety of reasons. And I’d like to believe that some (motorists) have moved over to taking public transport, given the convenience of the Circle Line and Downtown Line in the area." Mr Lui said that LTA “will continue to make improvements to the signs, and do the necessary tweaks, to bring about a smoother commute for motorists
