ROADS AT SPORTS HUB & EAST COAST PARK CLOSED FOR SEA GAMES MARATHONS

According to the Singapore Police Force, roads near the Singapore Sports Hub and East Coast Park are off-limits to vehicles this weekend (6th and 7th June) because of SEA Games triathlon and marathon events. East Coast Park Service Road, between carpark E2 and Tanah Merah Flyover, will be closed on the weekend from 8AM to 10.30AM. The SPF says that parking enforcements will be strictly carried out along the roads nearby, and vehicles found illegally parked and causing obstruction will be dealt with. Only the police and emergency vehicles will be allowed on those roads.

MARATHON RUNNERS TO RUN 50KM FOR 50 DAYS TO HONOUR LKY

Ultramarathoners Mr Lim Ngee Huat and Mr Yong Yuen Cheng will be running 50km a day together for 50 days to commemorate the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew's significant contributions to building the nation and to honour some of his character traits. Each day of the run will be anchored by a theme based of one contribution or character trait. A total of 50 themes have been decided by the Institute of Technical Education students, such as independence, self-reliance, and kindness.

AHSIAO runs 31 marathons in 31 days to raise bone marrow awareness

Running a marathon, or 42 kilometres, a day for 31 days straight may sound like an impossible task to most. But running enthusiast Gerrard Lin completed this grueling task, all for a good cause. The 32-year-old covered a whopping 1,300 kilometres in 31 days to raise awareness for bone marrow donation. He completed his record-breaking feat on Monday evening. The effort has been entered in the Singapore Book of Records.
