A Facebook user who claimed to be Malaysian with Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) shared how he was "stranded" in Singapore since 17 March 2020. After about a month, he decided to return home to Johor Bahru (JB). However upon reaching the JB Custom, Second link (should be Tuas Checkpoint), the Malaysian side denied him entry. The alleged reason given was because he is a Singapore PR.

A Malaysian man, Manuel Ang Boon Jiat, 29, was jailed for one and a half years and disqualified from driving here for 10 years, for driving while drunk and killing an on-duty Certis Cisco Auxiliary officer. In February this year, Ang who had 12 glasses of beer, got into his car and failed to stop near the Tuas Checkpoint, eventually killing one of three officers on duty diverting traffic there. Reports indicated that Ang, who was a salesman in Singapore, was on his way back to his home in Johor Bahru after a night of merry-making. At the same time, the officer, Lance Corporal Norman Samri, 33 and two other fellow colleagues were diverting traffic at the Tuas Checkpoint Departure Viaduct after a minor accident there around 1am on Feb 10. They were wearing yellow reflective vests with blinker lights placed on their shoulders, which can be easily seen. However, Ang failed to notice them, and failed to stop in time. He hit Lance Corporal Norman, who was standing in the centre lane of the three-lane road. He was flung upwards before landing near a concrete barrier on the extreme right lane. The other two Certis Cisco officers managed to jump out of the way.

26 year old Yap Jun Cheng was sentenced to 14 years jail and 22 strokes of the cane for raping a woman back in 2013. At the time, the Malaysian woman was only 20 years old and was in Singapore to look for a job and a rental flat. Yap was then serving his NS with the SCDF. Yap had been talking to the victim on Facebook for some time before offering to show her around Singapore. Upon meeting for the first time, he coerced her to his house in Tampines where he raped her twice and threatened to kill her. He also asked her to cook for him without her pants. His lawyer said he was remorseful for his actions but the incident had reportedly left the victim deeply traumatised.
