LTA TO TEST NEW SIGNAL SYSTEM, TRAINS TO STOP MOVING FOR 10 MINUTES

On Tuesday night, SMRT and LTA have announced that trains will be stopped for 10 minutes at 11pm, for the new signalling system to be tested. About 30 trains will be in operation at this time, and all 30 trains will be stopped on tracks for the tests. These tests are done on the North South Line (NSL). Once the signalling mode has taken over, the train service will resume, said LTA and SMRT again. Strange. First, they said for 10 minutes, then the train service will resume once testing passed and the new signalling system goes into effect. Which is which? Never mind that, let's just hope the maximum time the trains will be stopped on the tracks is 10 minutes, and not 10 hours.

LTA SHOULD EVALUATE YOUNG AND FOREIGN DRIVERS MONTHLY

In Singapore, one needs to be only 18 to hold a Class 2 and 3 driving license, 21 years old to hold a bus vocational license and heavy vehicle driving license, and soon, only 2 years driving experience required to go for private hire vocational license. I think that for new driving license holders, be it local or foreigners, the first year is very crucial and they are still very new to the traffic conditions and laws here, hence they are very unfamiliar and unconfident at times, this is what resulted in an accident. So I suggest that new license or newly converted license holders have to go through more orientation and training programme to ensure safety of themselves and other road users. And for those young or new heavy vehicle and vocational license holders, send them for a monthly evaluation, ensure they know the safety procedures of it and also passengers safety, make train them with this for at least a year before allowing them to hold the vocational license. Most accidents here are cussed by young, inexperienced and worse still, foreign drivers.

ERP TOO CHEAP FOR SGREANS!

I applaud to LTA's move to operate the ERP along amount Pleasant entrance to PIE (Changi) and also on PIE (Changi) after Lornie Road during the evening peak hours. This is a great move because traffic there is terrible between 5pm to 8pm where there are so many vehicles heading east back home, we should make private car ownership less affordable so that more people can ditch the idea of owning a car, otherwise roads will be like in the Philippines, havoc! However, I find that the ERP rates for this two gantries are too cheap already, $1 to $2 for cars is nothing.

DUPLICATE BUS SERVICES IN ORCHARD ADDS TO JAM. LTA MUST ACT NOW!

I am sick and tired of the traffic jams during morning peak hours along Orchard and Shenton Way area, the reason being is that there are just too many buses there! They are occupying the whole left lanes and most of the high demand bus services just drop passengers off at the second lane! LTA should look into our bus routes thoroughly and withdraw duplicating bus services and also stop spamming or deploying too many buses on a particular route.

UNFAIR TO ALLOW CHEAPER JB BIKES TO BE USED AS DELIVERY VEHICLES?

How to compete if LTA allow JB bike which only cost less than our COE to operate here. What if an accident happens and 3rd party insurance claim state for JB bike does not cover for commercial usage. Who should we claim from? Bottom line is how LTA set rules for our people to be competitive if COE is so high. Bosses are looking only at their profits. No bosses will care how it is done. Only LTA can regulate this.

EXPECT MORE CAR BREAKDOWNS IN RAINY WEATHER. SGREANS TOO RICH TO MAINTAIN CAR

With the NEA indicating that the there will be no let up in the heavy rain as we head into the end of January, there will be more instances of flash flood occurring in places you would not normally associate with flooding. And nowadays, with drivers behaving as if they are all kings and queens of the road, expect more impatient drivers on the roads, especially with jams expected on major roads and expressways due to the inclement weather. Nowadays, you hear more instances of car breakdowns on roads everywhere. Is it because the cars nowadays are not as hardy as they were before, or road users simply became too lazy to do proper maintenance of their cars?
