LIFT FAULTS IN BRAND NEW HDB BLOCK LEAVE RESIDENTS FRUSTRATED

Residents of the 38 storey block of flats are often left disappointed and frustrated that they are facing lift problems so soon after moving in. Lifts A and B serve the ground floor and the 21st to 38th storeys. Lifts C and D serve the ground floor to the 20th storey. The lifts are from Sigma Elevator, which had been banned from tendering for new HDB projects since October 2015 due to poor performance and installation delays. They had managed to secure this project before the ban took into effect. Residents are also left worried that they might get trapped in the lift, especially those pregnant and the elderly. As a precaution, some residents have taken it upon themselves to text their family members to inform them they are in the lift, just in case a breakdown happens.

Bukit Batok Member of Parliament, Mr Murali Pillai, who had been very vocal during his election campaign, but strangely been very quiet once he got his MP position, intimated that he shares the residents' concerns and will be monitoring the situation closely.

LIFT BREAKDOWN IN PUNGGOL AFFECTS ELDERLY RESIDENTS FOR HALF A DAY

Residents at Block 621B Edgefield Walk in Punggol are furious that since last year, they have been facing lifts that does not work, and there seems no solution for this problem is forthcoming. The residents, especially the elderly at the block of flats, have been complaining about this to the Pasir Ris Punggol Town Council, but so far, the lifts still breaks down.

The block of flats, which mostly consists of rental two room flats and studio apartments, just had another lift breakdown on Saturday, where both lift were not functioning from afternoon all the way to midnight. In the response to the latest lift breakdown, MP Zainal Sapari said the lifts were part of the Sigma group of lifts, the company which had already been banned from tendering for any more lift projects since October 2015.

According to reports, the residents of the block, most of whom are the elderly, said that the lifts breakdowns are very frequent, even though technicians have been coming to fix the lift. Among the problems, the lift doors closed too fast before residents are fully inside the lift, and the lift will sometimes stop suddenly. The Town Council have stated that they ordered the lift operators to settle this issue soon, and action might be taken against them, including fines against the company.

PEOPLE'S PARK COMPLEX RESIDENTS QUEUE AN HOUR JUST TO TAKE LIFT HOME

People's Park Complex has been plagued by serious lift breakdowns for the longest time. Some residents complained that they have to queue for an hour just to take the lifts to go home. The problem is worse for the elderly who are not fit enough to climb the stairs.

What are the authorities going to do about this? The building is supposed to have 3 lifts, but one is under repair since Dec last year while the other 2 continue to breakdown frequently. The lifts break down at least 3 times a month and sometimes they all just breakdown together.

There are apparently maintenance works there but is it really enough? Nowadays lift can work is privilege already siol!

HDB LIFT LEFT UNREPAIRED BY TOWN COUNCIL, CAUSES INCONVENIENCE TO ELDERLY CNY VISITORS

This lift at block 185 Edgefield Plains has been up and down many times in the past couple of months. Town Council didn't fix it after many attempts. Instead they chose to leave it like that during festive season. Very irresponsible and inconsiderate, insensitive too for CNY visitation. Especially elderly and handicapped.
