A popular coffee shop located in Upper Serangoon, well known for its nasi lemak and prawn mee stalls, have been ordered by the authorities to shut down for one day for failing to provide soap in its toilet. Located at 965-969 Upper Serangoon Road, Mee Sek houses popular establishments like Ponggol Nasi Lemak Centre and Wawa's Lechon and Grill.

NEA SUSPENDS LICENCE OF TIM PALACE RESTAURANT FOR TWO WEEKS

A restaurant on SAFRA Toa Payoh has been suspended for two weeks by the National Environment Agency (NEA), for selling expired pre-packed food and failing to keep its premises free of rodent infestation. the restaurant was named as Tim Palace, a Chinese restaurant which prides itself in serving fine Chinese food. A notice on NEA website confirmed that the restaurant will be suspended from 5 June to 18 June. Three violations were cited, which were failure to keep its premises clean, failure to keep its premises free of rodent infestations, selling pre-packed food past their expiry date. However, a post on the restaurant's Facebook page indicated that they will be "closed for renovations" and will resume business on 19 June.

JACK’S PLACE AT PAYA LEBAR SQUARE HAS LICENCE SUSPENDED FOR COCKROACH INFESTATION

The Jack's Place restaurant located in Paya Lebar Square had their licence suspended by NEA for a period of two weeks, due to the restaurant being unable to maintain the hygiene in their stall and the presence of cockroaches. The suspension of their licence is from 3 May to 16 May. Goes to show that even reputable restaurants in brand new shopping malls are not immune from having cockroaches infestations, and that maintaining hygiene should be the basic requirement for a food place.
