GAY MAN TO GOVT: WE DON’T EVEN HAVE A SMALL LEGAL SPACE FOR SEX

Singaporeans are debating PAP Minister Josephine Teo's ludicrous claims that you only need a small space to have sex and to make babies. While most of you Singaporeans are having a field day poking fun at her gaffe, there is a group of Singaporeans who do not even enjoy such a small space. We are the LGBTQ community, we have no voice, we have no legal space to even have sex with the people we love.

BRYAN LIM GETS AWAY SCOTT-FREE FOR THREATS AGAINST GAYS?

It has been more than one month since Bryan Lim was "allegedly" charged over threatening comments. No news has been heard since. That's because nothing happened to him, and mainstream media will just sweep this incident under the carpet. (Which is pretty much their standard operating procedure for anything NOT related to WP.)

LGBT PEOPLE ARE HUMANS TOO, LETS COEXIST WITH THEM PEACEFULLY

People who fall under the LGBTQ category are humans too. They face the same struggles, issues and problems most of us face in everyday life. Jacky has pointed out, and rightfully so, that LGBTQs face harassment, bullying and isolation in Singapore. This practice is not right and I hold that the government and society must take a stand against the bullying and discrimination which "deviants" face in our culture and society.

US SUPREME COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF GAY MARRIAGE NATIONWIDE

In a historical ruling on the rights of homosexuals in the United States, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled today that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry nationwide. In a tight 5-4 ruling, U.S. justices said that states lack legitimate reason to deprive gay couples of the freedom to marry. Justice Anthony Kennedy, a Republican appointee, had jumped ship and voted with the four Democratic appointees in the majority in favor of gay marriage, thus effectively legalizing gay marriages in the 14 states where they are still banned.

PINKDOT ORGANISERS CENSORED LGBTQ ACTIVISTS TO ATTRACT MAINSTREAM SINGAPOREANS

I made the decision last year after reading Alfian's criticism of the pinkwashing at Pinkdot, after hearing from various friends of the Pinkdot organisers' heavyhanded censorship of community booths and disrespect of the LGBTQI community's diversity and needs. My activist friends reported the organisers lecturing that this event is not for them, not for the benefit of the LGBTQI community, but for the benefit of appearing safe and unthreatening to mainstream Singapore and their straight allies. And so: a complete gag on safe sex. Straight people will freak out if you give out condoms and safe sex brochures and talk about safe sex!

SG CIVIL SOCIETY: CALL FOR COMPASSION, DIALOGUE AND MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING ON LGBTQ ISSUES

No individual or group in a democracy should impinge on others in an unjust manner. Our freedom to fully express ourselves according to our conscience must come with the reciprocal responsibility to accord the same freedom to other people. This holds true even if these others hold beliefs that deeply contradict our own. No individual or group should therefore be vilified, condemned, or subjected to harassment or abuse – physical or otherwise – or suffer any other form of reprisal simply for taking a position, taking part or identifying with a range of LGBTQ issues.

Outing The PAP Bigots

A local paper is saying that Goldman Sachs here is making a specific recruitment call to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students. The company is saying that its planned LGBT recruitment and networking (indoor) dinner at its Singapore office is merely a platform for attendees to "discuss issues and concerns regarding being 'out' in the workplace". Sympathetic voices chimed in to add that, given the labour crunch, companies should be mindful about closing doors on any specific group of people. After all, the official mantra has always been about welcoming one and all to the melting pot.
