LI SHENGWU LEFT SINGAPORE EARLIER, FEARED HE’LL BE DETAINED

In a Reuters interview, Li Shengwu said he left Singapore for the US more than a week earlier as planned as his friends were worried that he may be detained or interrogated due to his contempt of court case. Prime Minister's Press Secretary Chang Li Lin was quick to defend the legal system by saying it is inaccurate to make such statements because it is only part of legal procedures and laws.

CHEE SOON JUAN WRITES TO PM LEE TO CALL FOR A BY-ELECTION

Singapore Democratic Party's Chee Soon Juan has written to PM Lee to call for a By-Election for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC in light of Mdm Halimah Yacob's resignation. He asked if PM Lee agrees with Mr Chan Chun Sing for previously saying that there will not be a By-Election. If he does not receive a response, he will "proceed to take the necessary steps to rectify the situation".
