LHL has congratulated Halimah Yacob for becoming the President of Singapore. Interestingly, he thanked Farid Khan and Salleh Marican for accepting their disqualification as "this is the way to make our democratic processes work properly". Really?

Opposition politician Ang Yong Guan questions the government's policies and thinks citizens will not tolerate changes to the elected Presidency. Is it right for them to push through with unpopular policies? Do you think they are well aware of what our people need?

Our reader notes that Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, who has been nominated at Singapore's 10th Speaker, will thus be out of the running to be our next PM. This leaves us with Heng Swee Keat, Lawrence Wong, Ng Chee Meng, Chan Chun Sing and Ong Ye Kung. He thinks this is all very well-planned and calculated.

In a Facebook announcement today, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has appointed Mr Tan Chuan Jin, the current Minister for Social and Family Development, as the new Speaker of Parliament.

Our reader went for a diabetes checkup following PM Lee's rally only to find that he had to pay extra even though he wanted the hospital to charge it to his Medisave account. When asked for a reason, the hospital staff simply said "I don't know". What kind of service is this?

At the NDR this year, PM Lee picked 3 easy topics to talk about: pre-school education, smart nation and diabetes. He completely ignored talking about the important and pressing issues that are hurting Singaporeans both in near and long term: One thing is for sure, you won't be able to find any US presidents talking about how to take care of one's health in any of the annual State of Union Address
