Lawyer and death penalty critic Eugene Thuraisingam has apologised in court yesterday for making statements that were in contempt of court. Minors who are suspected of committing a crime in school must be handled by MSF or MOE and the parents to be kept informed of what's happening. They are too young to be subjected to our police style of interrogation. The current protocol of no adult-accompaniment must be over-hauled so our minors are protected and proper legal access accorded. Lawyers must be present - I was shocked that during any police interrogation no lawyers are allowed to be present. Stop all 4-man police harassment of individuals at MRT and other public places and stop issuing meaningless police warning to activists and dissidents.

Pro Bono lawyer for Yishun cat killer, really? Throwing a live animal (maybe one day it will be a human being) from a flat, is never a mentally sound act. But that does not make it OK. If the Yishun cat killer is mentally unsound, the family should take responsibility that he does not roam in the society freely causing harm to others including animals.
