LTA: SIGNALLING IS COMPLEX BUT WE’RE WORKING HARD TO IMPROVE IT
The Chief Executives of LTA and SMRT trains responded to constant train delays by saying that re-signalling is a complex exercise. The signal testing has no choice but to continue for full days and especially under demanding conditions during peak period. They explain there are still mitigating measures like free bus services and in-station announcements to help commuters when there are disruptions. "We are sparing no expense to improve our rail system’s reliability, including completing the replacement of the ageing signalling system, which turns 30 years old this year. Orh hor, the Straits Times anyhow report that two LRTs collided at Sengkang! In its clarification today, the Land Transport Authority explained that ST's article was "erroneous" and "misleading" as there was no collision on the LRT line. It said the two LRTs were actually coupled and travelling as one train when it suddenly stalled, causing passengers to lose their balance. LTA believed people may have gotten the wrong impression that the trailing train-car collided with the one in front. It assured the public that all passengers were alright as the staff manually drove them to another station safely.

A reader is against the requirement for mountain bikes to have handlebars shorter than 700mm. He thinks having a longer handlebar will provide more stability when cycling and would rather the LTA catch those errant ebikers instead. "Shouldnt LTA be educating pedestrian as well? Most pedestrian are hogging up the entire pavement, walking in all direction, and causing misunderstanding between cyclists and pedestrian. Not all cyclist are dangerous, most of the mountain bikers that ride the local trails respect the pedestrian and care for the safety.
