EX-POLICEMAN STILL TO HANG FOR KOVAN DOUBLE MURDER

News just released that the policeman involved in the Kovan double murder in July 2013 had his appeal against the death sentence upheld. He will still face the hangman's noose. Former policeman Iskandar Rahmat was sentenced to death for viciously stabbing to death Mr Tan Boon Sin and his son Mr Tan Chee Heong. The courts ruled that he had intended to kill the elder Tan for money, due to Iskandar facing bankruptcy and dismissal from the Police Force.

POLICEMAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KOVAN DOUBLE MURDERS

36 year-old Iskandar Rahmat, a disgraced former police officer who fell into debt and faced expulsion from the Singapore Police Force, was sentenced to death by hanging on Friday by the High Court after he was convicted of both charges of murdering a father and son in their Kovan home.

WP’S LEE LI LIAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO VICTIM OF KOVAN DOUBLE MURDERS

2 years ago, a lady came to MPS to seek my assistance on a persistent case of summons around the cluster she stays in. I was told that a LTA officer will literally 'camp' there between 5-7pm. Residents understood that the officer was just carrying out his duties and they do not blame him. Moreover, they see him so often that they became 'friends'. The officer will alert them that they have parked too long and it is time to leave before he takes any action. To solve the problem of illegal parking, HDB decided to install CCTV in the vicinity. This lady, together with some other residents brought it to my attention the challenges they are facing should this continue.
