KOK POH KOON SAYS WATER & OTHER PRICE HIKES HAVE SMALL INFLATION IMPACT

Responding to PAP MP Zaqy Mohamad's question if the recent slew of price increases (water, electricity, transport, carpark) would impact inflation and affect Singaporeans, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Dr Koh Poh Koon said that the price increases only contribute 0.2 pp to inflation and this impact is small. Dr Koh said that against a backdrop of increase in oil prices, the main driver of price increases this year was from the electricity and other energy-linked items such as petrol or diesel.

Koh Poh Koon also said that the population of free-roaming chickens in Sin Ming had doubled to 50, and that studies have shown chickens are more susceptible to the bird flu virus, compared to other birds like pigeons. Is this just another lousy excuse? You culled the chickens already due to noise complaints in the first place, people became unhappy, and you had to come up with some other excuses. So naturally, bird flu is the excuse. Stop this nonsense now.

KOH POH KOON HELPS OLD LADY CARRY 32KG OF OLD NEWSPAPERS, EXPLAINS THAT SHE RECYCLES TO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT

Saw 70 year old Mdm Lim from Blk 235 struggling to move 32kg of old newspaper for recycling. Good thing we ran into her and helped her with the load. Found out that with her bad knees and unsteady gait, she actually fell and had a slight bruise on her forehead just before we came across her. Asked why she expended so much efforts to recycle these items, she insisted she wanted to do her part to protect our environment. Her single-mindedness towards a worthy cause is deserving of a salute!
