Our reader praised MP Sun Xueling for speaking up about lift breakdowns in Punggol but added that the Home Improvement Programme poses another problem with its poor workmanship. He thinks more MPs should act on constructive feedback and take unprofessional contractors to task.

KOK POH KOON SAYS WATER & OTHER PRICE HIKES HAVE SMALL INFLATION IMPACT

Responding to PAP MP Zaqy Mohamad's question if the recent slew of price increases (water, electricity, transport, carpark) would impact inflation and affect Singaporeans, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Dr Koh Poh Koon said that the price increases only contribute 0.2 pp to inflation and this impact is small. Dr Koh said that against a backdrop of increase in oil prices, the main driver of price increases this year was from the electricity and other energy-linked items such as petrol or diesel.

KOH POH KOON SAYS 50 CHICKENS IN SIN MING MORE DANGEROUS THAN PIGEONS IN HAWKER CENTERS

Koh Poh Koon also said that the population of free-roaming chickens in Sin Ming had doubled to 50, and that studies have shown chickens are more susceptible to the bird flu virus, compared to other birds like pigeons. Is this just another lousy excuse? You culled the chickens already due to noise complaints in the first place, people became unhappy, and you had to come up with some other excuses. So naturally, bird flu is the excuse. Stop this nonsense now.

KOH POH KOON HELPS OLD LADY CARRY 32KG OF OLD NEWSPAPERS, EXPLAINS THAT SHE RECYCLES TO SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT

Saw 70 year old Mdm Lim from Blk 235 struggling to move 32kg of old newspaper for recycling. Good thing we ran into her and helped her with the load. Found out that with her bad knees and unsteady gait, she actually fell and had a slight bruise on her forehead just before we came across her. Asked why she expended so much efforts to recycle these items, she insisted she wanted to do her part to protect our environment. Her single-mindedness towards a worthy cause is deserving of a salute!

MP KOH POH KOON SHD APOLOGISE TO ALL SINGAPOREANS

Your fellow Singaporeans fully knows that HDB is NOT a bank but always look at it as a government organization and a provider of cheap homes inasmuch as they know that the CPF Board is also not another bank but a vault that holds their savings till 55 years of age.

We are children of Parents who may have been uneducated farmers and who stayed among fowls, pigs and bovines but we do surely know our true past and respect our forefathers..

We also do not call ourselves "sons of this or that" for we know the true tough life our parents went through in raising and educating us.

KOH POH KOON: HDB IS NOT A BANK, CONSIDER RENT OR SELL UR FLAT IF U CANNOT MAKE IT

For flat owners who have fallen on hard times, the Housing Development Board (HDB) may offered a temporary reduction or deferment of their mortgage instalLments to help with their financial situation.

Minister of State for National Development Koh Poh Koon said that HDB offered several measures such as financial counselling and referrals to social support agencies for job placements and financial aid. Subletting is one option.

EX-SON OF PUNGGOL QUITS DOCTOR JOB TO BECOME FULL TIME MINISTER?

Final week of work as a surgeon in my own clinic. Had a farewell lunch with my nurses and my anesthetists today. Thank you for your support and teamwork in making a difference to the lives of our patients. Together, we've handled many challenging surgical cases that kept us awake many a nights and left our hearts palpitating. While we may be parting ways soon, know that I will always cherish our friendship and the memories of our time working together.

MAN WHO COLLAPSED AT AMK HAWKER CENTER DIED IN HOSPITAL

An elderly man who fainted at an Ang Mo Kio hawker centre on Sunday has died in hospital despite Dr Koh Poh Koon, a People's Action Party (PAP) candidate contesting Ang Mo Kio GRC, performed CPR on him when he was found lying on the ground. Dr Koh was making his rounds at the Ang Mo Kio Central Market & Food Centre at about 8am on Sunday when the man, who is in his 70s, suddenly collapsed.The colorectal surgeon immediately performed CPR on the man.
