Khaw Boon Wan: Get Ready For Higher Transport Fares To Alleviate Public Transport Subsidies

It has already begun. Singaporeans have not even began to enjoy their GST gift from the government, news of rising cost for Singaporeans have hit the news. Transport Minister and Henry Thia lookalike Khaw Boon Wan said in Parliament on Monday with a straight face that the government is currently subsidizing 30% of public transport operations, and that Singaporeans should expect higher fares for public transport to keep subsidies in check.

In news that surprised no one, commuters' satisfaction with the MRT services fell sharply around the time the signalling test began during weekdays back in May. The same study also revealed that commuters were far happier with bus and taxi services, and even the often broken down Bukit Panjang LRT line.
