DOG LOVER COMPLAINS ABOUT PRC SHOP SELLING DOG MEAT AT JURONG

According to one "Aileen Tan", she discovered a PRC shop called Song Hua Jiang Restaurant selling braised dog meat on their menu. The address of the restaurant: Blk 350 Jurong East Ave 1 #01-1233 S(600350). She asked SPCA whether the sale of dog meat is legal in Singapore. She also posted a link to the menu of the restaurant which allegedly sells the dog meat item in its menu. Another concerned reader has also contributed a photo of the offensive menu item.

“RED CLOUD” IN WEST SINGAPORE FROM INCINERATOR PLANT ON PULAU BUKOM

Several netizens have submitted questions about a "red cloud" in the western sky in Singapore. Some netizens wondered if the redness in the sky was because of a massive fire at one of the factories on Jurong Island, or chemicals being spewed out of gas chimneys from one of the factories there. According to one netizen who called the NEA, the red cloud comes from an incinerator plant operating at Jurong at night. The light from the blaze brightens up the darkened sky and causes a "red cloud" to appear over western Singapore.

95% OF JURONG EXECUTIVE CONDOMINIUM SOLD ON FIRST DAY

The first executive condominium (EC) project in Jurong in 17 years opened for booking on Saturday (Nov 8), and it has already sold 95 per cent of its units - 521 units. This makes Lake Life EC the project that sold the most number of units on the first day of sales since June last year. Sales of the project crossed the 50 per cent mark by noon. By 4pm, 446 units were snapped up.

SINGAPORE SPENT S$950M TO BUILD UNDERGROUND CAVERNS

Singapore yesterday unveiled its latest engineering feat to overcome the constraints of land - an underground commercial storage facility for oil products. The ambitious Jurong Rock Caverns took six years of planning and a further eight of construction at a cost of $950 million, with about 1,700 workers employed. Declaring it officially open, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong told a ceremony on Jurong Island that the endeavour was challenging, risky and expensive, but will ultimately prove rewarding.

NEW MOSQUES IN WOODLANDS AND JURONG WEST BY 2016

MUSLIMS in Jurong West and Woodlands can look forward to two new mosques by 2016, which will be built to accommodate the growing numbers of worshippers in these areas. Each mosque will take up about 2,500 sq m of space and cost about $15 million, said the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (Muis) at a media conference yesterday. Right now, Muslim worshippers in Jurong West can attend mosques in Jurong East and Taman Jurong.
