The main customers to the supermarket, situated at Toh Guan Road in Jurong East, are migrant workers, according to Ms Mo Mei Lian, 43, owner of the store. She told Lianhe Zaobao since last month their rival reached out to the workers at their dormitory areas. On 23 August, it came to their attention that the new mart distributed flyers just outside workers’ dormitory. On 10 September, they were surprised that their rival was offering free lorry rides for workers to visit their store at Jurong West.

FIRE AT YUHUA VILLAGE FOOD CENTRE, ONE MAN INJURED

SCDF said that the fire involved an exhaust duct linked to one of the stalls. The injured man, in his 30s, was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for cuts to his right hand. A spokesman for the Jurong-Clementi Town Council said that the fire damaged the exhaust fan, metal roof and fittings of affected stalls. It said all stalls were closed on Wednesday, and some continue to be close do Thursday, while the gas supplier and electricians conducted another round of safety inspections.

A local Indian woman became the victim of a dirty molest trick on Thursday evening after she was groped by an Indian male while alighting from the MRT at Jurong East MRT platform. According to the netizen, the incident took place at about 7.10PM after she alighted from the East-West MRT line at Jurong East. She was walking over to the North-South MRT line platform when she almost knocked into a man, who had abruptly stopped in the middle of the path of the already congested walkway.

FEMALE STUDENT TRAUMATISED AFTER OLD MAN STROKED HER THIGHS ON THE PUBLIC BUS

I was on bus 335 going towards JE from school around 2pm at Jurong. I was sitting at a window seat nearer to the exit. After a few stops, the uncle sat beside me. Then he started sitting very closely towards me and I had to move further into the seat. Out of a sudden, he put his right hand on my left thigh and moved his hand up. Immediately, I stood up and stood on the bus. Afterwards, he moved into my seat and touch an Indian woman in front of him and she scolded him afterwards. But no action was taken after that. I was traumatized by the incident hence, I did not take any action.
