SDP: S’POREAN JOBS WILL BE TAKEN UP BY FOREIGNERS UNDER PAP’S MISGUIDED POLICIES

To tackle rising unemployment, the Minister for Manpower Lim Swee Say offered in Parliament on Monday to “transform the National Jobs Bank into a one-stop and non-stop online marketplace”. How is this any comfort to Singaporeans when retrenchments continue unabated and job creation is anaemic? It is plain that Singaporeans will be in for more pain under the PAP's misguided policies. Worse, the party has not come up with any workable plans to create jobs for Singaporeans. On the other hand, the SDP has drawn up a comprehensive set of policies to take our economy in a viable direction.

S’PORE JOBS BANK IS A BIG WAYANG, NO REAL PROTECTION FOR S’POREANS FIRST POLICY

In my honest opinion, Jobs Bank is one of the biggest wayang ever. Employers do not flout regulations. Because there are none to flout. The only regulation required is that they post the Job openings on Jobs Bank for 14 days before they allowed to hire an FT. And that's it. All employers need to do is to put up the opening on Jobs Bank for 14 days, don't respond to any Singaporean application, don't read any resume, don't arrange any interview, and that's it. They get to hire an FT. Legally endorsed.

S’PORE-INDIA CECA AGREEMENT SUPPRESSING S’POREAN YOUTHS JOB OPPORTUNITIES

A recent post on Facebook on Comprehensive Economic Coperation Agreement between Singapore & India caught my eye. In the agreement, there are 127 professions opened to Indian citizens. On top of that their spouses are also allowed to work. The fact is the foreigners will come when the policies are in their favor, make the most of it and leave for greener pastures when there's opportunities. Our young people will stay in Singapore, earn suppressed salaries, struggle to pay for a HDB, support aged parents & build own families.

What’s the point of having an Infocomm plan to promote learning or higher economic growth, when we allow foreigners from all over the world to flock to Singapore to compete unfairly and take away jobs from Singaporeans?

AUSTRALIAN EMBASSY BREAKS S’PORE’S FAIR CONSIDERATION FRAMEWORK WHILE ADVERTISING FOR RESEARCH OFFICER

Does it mean that the Australian High Commission only advertised on the Jobs Bank to “wayang” (put on a show) when it had no intention of hiring locals for the job? Note that companies applying for an Employment Pass for foreigners to work in Singapore need to quote the job advertisement ID on the Jobs Bank to show that they have already advertised for locals. Otherwise, without any advertisement on the Jobs Bank, a company will not be able to apply for an Employment Pass for a foreign PMET.
