The broken promises in which the PAP has given the electorate has been particularly devastating for me and I don’t think that I am alone in this situation after seeing how many other people are in my situation as well. I have applied many positions but only received one rejected reply. This job has the lowest salary and qualifications. All the jobs I applied are within the government. Jobless 34-year-old programmer who stayed only 2-15 months in any job looking for direction

Anyway, I am an unemployed 34 year old guy. I started work in the helpdesk but kept switching companies due to low work performance and/or unhappiness with the management. The longest period I have stayed in an company was 7 months. However, each job lasted only 2-15 months. I was never fired from any of my jobs. All this is due to various non-professional reasons. I keep wanting to move on, repeatedly. But every move ended up a lateral one. I did not move up the ladder.

Grease trapped

For the past few months, Madam Valerie Sim eked out a living by collecting waste oil from coffee shops in Jurong. She would wait until the coffee shops were closing and then siphon the oil from grease traps with a co-worker. They would open the grease trap lid and pump out the oil into oil tanks. The tanks would then be loaded onto their company lorry and taken to the company to be processed into biodiesel. Her work all but dried up when a photograph of her and her co-worker, who wanted to be known only as Mr Ng, siphoning oil at a coffee shop in Jurong West was posted on citizen journalism website Stomp on Feb 12. It sparked speculation among netizens over whether the oil was being reused for cooking.
