MINISTER MASAGOS: S’PORE HAS REHABILITATED & RELEASED 57 TERROR SUSPECTS, 9 REMAIN IN CUSTODY

Thirteen years ago, Singapore rounded up 13 men in its first terrorism-related detentions and foiled a Jemaah Islamiah (JI) plot to bomb key spots. Today, just nine of the 66 men detained over the years for terrorism-related activities remain in custody, Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli told The Straits Times. MALAYSIA ON ALERT FOR RELEASE OF 350 JEMAAH ISLAMIAH PRISONERS IN INDONESIA

Malaysians authorities are on the alert following the expected release of about 350 former Jemaah Islamiah members from prisons in Indonesia. Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Malaysian police was aware of the possible release of the prisoners, which is expected to be on Friday. "The police are working with their Indonesian counterparts to secure the full list of prisoners released," he told a press conference at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman on Thursday. "We will remain vigilant in the matter."

Syria and Singapore: A Worrying Connection
