IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOVT TO VET ALL READING MATERIALS

So the government admitted that it is not possible for the authorities to go through ad vet every reading material they purchase before making them available for loan at the Libraries. This come in the wake of the concerns over copies of the Malay-language series - Agama, Tamadun Dan Arkeologi (Religion, Civilisation And Archaeology) - which were available in libraries since 2013, and placed in the junior non-fiction section.

The series of books apparently depicted Jews in a negative light and seemed to legitimize the use of violence in the name of Islam. But Minister for Communications and Information Yaacob Ibrahim said that the authorities will learn from this episode, The books have since been removed, and Min Yaacob also stated that the NLB had done their due diligence and its very best in this episode. The nature of the books only came to light this year after a twiter user shard photos of them over the weekend.

MUIS SAYS IMAM'S REMARKS AGAINST JEWS & CHRISTIANS HAVE NO PLACE IN S'PORE

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) has come out saying that Imam Nalla Mohamed Abdul Jameel's remarks against Christians and Jews have no place in today's Singapore where all communities live in peace and harmony. MUIS said that Imam Nalla's comments caused confusion and suspicion among non-Muslims and had damaged the image of Islam and Muslims in Singapore. Even within the Singapore-Muslim community, it has caused some disquiet.

we must be extra careful cos nowadays there is the danger of radical islam and extremists trying to strike fear in the public. the imam play a super impt role for our muslims n becos of this huge responsibility, he was fined $4,000 for promoting emnity between religions. if we anyhow believe this kind of divisive ideas, singapore will become very vulnerable and end up messy like other countries. respect to imam nalla for making things right and admitting his mistake by pleading guilty for his indiscretion, he show us how a true man of religion should behave, humble and for the peace of this small country.

CHULIA MOSQUE IMAM MAKES PUBLIC APOLOGY FOR REMARKS MADE AGAINST JEWS & CHRISTIANS IN S'PORE

According to lawyer Noor Marican, the Imam who is under police investigation and caused an online firestorm after he allegedly made inflammatory remarks against Christians and Jews has apologised for his words and actions. The Imam apologised at the Ministry of National Development building this morning (Friday; 31 March 2017) and did so in front of religious council members as well as members of the Indian Muslim association.
