POLY STUDENTS NOT EQUIPPED TO DO WELL IN UNIVERSITIES

Our local media still think this is the 1980s where people just lap up their BS propaganda. Education is not 'studies' as you know it in the polytechnic. Education in a good University is a training of the mind. Contrary to what our education minister, Ong Ye Kung, says, education's end goal is NOT the acquiring of skills. Skills can become obsolete. Education is about the training of minds. Ability to analyse. Excellent 3R skills - Reading, wRiting aND aRithmetic skills. Ability to ask the right questions. Ability to frame complex situations. I dare say the polytechnic education action does NOT prepare the graduates for this as they focus on CURRENT skills.

The University forces one to go back to the basics of 3Rs - that is why so many poly kias stumble when they go to University. It is not that they lack skills. They lack the strong foundation (3Rs) to acquire new skills in future. To add in a key point; normally JC students come from more well-to-do family with university educated parents. So they know what is the gist of how society is structured and its workings and how these are tied to educational attainment.

NUS GIRL: CONFUSED AFTER HAVING SEX WITH EX-JC TEACHER WHO HAS A GF

I'm really confused and need some help. During recess week I met with my JC teacher for dinner. He was my mentor in school and gave me plenty of good advice about universities and scholarships. I was grateful for his help and I wanted to thank him by treating him to dinner, especially since this is my first semester in NUS. I told him during dinner that I live in one of the UTown RCs, and he got interested, and wanted to visit my RC.

RJC NS RECRUIT PROMISE TO HIRE SERGEANTS AS CLEANERS TO REVENGE FOR NS TEKAN

I was sadden when I read that one of my RJC recruits decided to throw tantrums when he found out his posting order. Although he scored straight As for every of his exams, he need not be so atas and label us indirectly as future cleaners. Is this the elitist thinking of Singapore's future leaders? For his NS 'suffering' he is now going to revenge and hire his commanders as cleaners? Do we value IQ and throw EQ or empathy out of the window?

OBLIVIOUS JC STUDENTS CAUGHT DOING HANKY PANKY AT HDB STAIRCASE

I was coming out of my grandma house in West Coast Road at around 3pm when I saw two JC students heavy petting one another on the staircase landing of the opposite HDB block. Yes it is ok for couples to hug and kiss but they were petting one another so much that I was quite disturbed and annoyed by their actions.

JC STUDENT JUMPED TO HIS DEATH BECAUSE OF SMALL PENIS

An 18-year-old student jumped to his death because he was convinced his genitals were too small, a Singapore coroner's report said on Wednesday. Despite strong emotional support from his girlfriend, he remained convinced that he had a problem. In delivering the verdict of suicide, state Coroner Tan Boon Heng said that the incident highlighted the importance of sex education in and outside schools. The junior college student's death showed that even intelligent young people can be "victims of misinformation," Tan said.

THE UGLY TRUTH ABOUT LIFE AS A JC STUDENT

Although some of my classmates are capable of saying the meanest things on earth to weak students like me, I've forgive them and even established good rapport with them in J2 when I started seeking them for help in my weakest subject. On hindsight, maybe all of this was just a huge misunderstanding. Anyway, guys being guys, I am sure they must've forgotten what they've said previously. The girls in my class were one of the nicest people I've met too and I am so grateful I had classmates like them
