EX-TRS WEBSITE OWNERS INSPIRES STORY IN JACK NEO'S CNY MOVIE, GIVE EX-CONVICTS A CHANCE!

Did you find parts of the new Jack Neo Movie Take 2 familiar? Well it might be because the film took inspiration from a real life story that happened right here in Singapore. The film Take 2 follows the story of a group of ex-convicts as they try to leave their criminal pasts behind them and decide to sell Japanese Ramen in a coffee shop to get by and start a new life. The fun and comedy aside, some parts of the film are based on the story of the TRS Couple. Miss Ai Takagi and Mr Yang Kaiheng, the former owners and editors of the now defunct socio-political website TheRealSingapore.com were in the news a lot last year after they were arrested and subsequently jailed for sedition.

The latest installment of the franchise Ah Boys to Men 3: Frogmen collected $2.8 million in 4 days during the Chinese New Year holidays.. Singaporeans who were interviewed by ST are looking forward to next year's installment of Ah Boys To Men. However, some Singaporeans are not happy with the way SAF is being portrayed in the films.

MOVIE REVIEW: THE LION MEN (2014)

If you're not familiar with Lion Dance, you might be entertained. But for your average Singaporean who has seen Lion Dance his whole life, there's nothing new here. There's no insight into the life, training or business of Lion Dance. It's all cartoonish troupe rivalries and melodramatic posturings about the purity of traditional Lion Dance versus modern fusion. Basically transplanted tropes from a hundred Hollywood movies.

Do you still watch TV & Mediacorp Productions?

Before the days of the remote control, my grandpa used to send me scuttling to the television and back to manually change the channels and adjust the volume. We’d sit, three generations all told, and watch Gao Xiao Xing Dong (‘Comedy Night’) – the Chinese variety TV show with Jack Neo playing Liang Po Po, the little old woman version of Mr. Bean.
