Mainstream media reported that 2 of the expectant mothers who were infected with zika while pregnant have given birth to healthy babies with no signs of microcephaly. The Singapore Ministry of Health reported that there were currently no reported cases of zika-linked microcephaly in Singapore. As for the other 15 pregnant mothers infected with zika, they are closely monitoring baby developments and doctors are supporting them closely with follow ups and counselling.

SGH announced that it is investigating a cluster of Hepatitis C infections in its renal ward. In total, 22 patients who were hospitalised between April and June 2015 had been infected with Hepatitis C. Out of which 4 patients had passed away, with another death under review. SGH is now contacting all patients who were admitted to Wards 64A and 67 from January to June for Hepatitis C screening.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has been informed of a cluster of 22 cases of acute Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) amongst patients with kidney disease who had been admitted to Ward 64A or Ward 67 at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) during the period from April to June 2015. Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong said, “I am gravely concerned and disappointed with the occurrence of the cluster of Hepatitis C cases in SGH.
