INDONESIA FINALLY ACCEPTS SINGAPORE’S OFFER TO HELP WITH FOREST FIRES

After an eternity of wrangling, Indonesia has finally accepted SIngapore's offer to help Indonesia deal with its own forest fires, Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan announced today. In a Facebook post, Dr Balakrishnan said that his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi had informed him of Indonesia's acceptance after a good discusion on Wednesday evening.

ASIA PULP & PAPER GROUP PRODUCTS PULLED FROM NTUC SUPERMARKET

NTUC Fairprice has announced today that it would be pulling all paper products sold by Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP). This follows the Singapore Environment Council (SEC) announcement that it would institute a temporary restriction on the use of the "Singapore Green Label" certification for the Indonesian paper firms' products. All APP-related products, including those from Paseo, NICE and Jolly, will be pullled by 5pm today.

INDONESIA AGAIN REJECTS SINGAPORE’S OFFER TO HELP FIGHT FOREST FIRES

During a meeting in Jakarta to discuss the haze issue, Indonesian officials told the Singapore delegation that they had enough resources to fight the forest fires and does not need Singapore's assistance at this time. Singapore repeated its offer of assistance including the sending of one Chinook helicopter to conduct water bombing and one C-130 aircraft for cloud-seeding operations. However, Indonesia stood firm and said it had enough resources to deal with the fires.
