LEON PERERA RESIGNS FROM THE INDEPENDENT S'PORE TO PROTECT WP'S REPUTATION

I would like to announce that I am stepping down from the advisory board of The Independent Singapore (TISG) with immediate effect. I have decided to take this additional step to ensure that any perceived link to TISG does not distract public attention when policy positions are taken by the Workers' Party, particularly on issues related to media regulation. My recent appointment as Deputy Chair of the WP Media team also makes this a necessary move.

TWO S'POREANS UNDER POLICE INVESTIGATION FOR FLOUTING BUKIT BATOK COOLING DAY

The Assistant Returning Officer has filed police reports against socio-political website The Independent Singapore (TISG), CPF activist Roy Ngerng and Teo Soh Lung for publishing online articles to supporter Opposition candidate Dr Chee Soon Juan during Cooling Off Day and Polling Day during the recent Bukit Batok By-election. The ARO said TISG, Mr Ngerg and Ms Teo were entities or individuals who regularly engage in the discussion and propagation of political issues, hence they should be held accountable and responsible for what they publish.
