WOMAN INVOLVED IN TEOCHEW PORRIDGE FIGHT REMANDED AT IMH

A 40-year-old woman who was allegedly involved in a fight at a Teochew Porridge Restaurant was remanded at IMH after likely suffering from post-natal depression. Pang Pei Pei had previously gone to IMH for treatment but did not go for further follow-ups. She did not take her medication too. Her 5-month old daughter is placed under another person's care at the moment. Pang Pei Pei was charged for being involved in rash act at the eatery together with 3 men who threw furniture at the Teochew porridge counter. They were reportedly enraged because of their $28 bill. Pang will be back in court on 20 June while a few of the men are currently out on bail.

The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) will be offering psychiatric treatment and counselling for individuals suffering from gender dysphoria, a condition where people identify with a gender different from the one they are born with.

SCHIZOPHRENIC MAN WHO THREATENED PM ON FACEBOOK JAILED 15 MONTHS

33 year-old Tan Yeong Hong was sentenced to 15 months behind bars today after threatening to physically harm Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Facebook and assaulting 2 police officers sent to arrest him. Angered that he could not meet Mr Lee in person at a meet the people's session in June this year, Tan then wrote four threatening messages to Mr Lee: “Eh, you challenged me to visit your MPS but you are not here. I will find and stage an attack on you when I have information on your public appearances. You know who I am.” Tan also included his NRIC number and handphone number on the messages.

FOREIGN IMH DOCTOR REFUSES TO RELEASE PATIENT FOR CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION WITH AGING MOTHER

A reader has shared a blog post by blogger Ray Hope, who wrote about his family's unhappiness with an Institute of Mental Health (IMH) doctor who refuses to release his twin brother from IMH to spend time with his family for Christmas. He says that his brother's condition has stabilized, after being admitted to IMH 3 months ago, and the expensive hospitalization bills are eating away at what little Medisave his brother has left. Being a Catholic family, the blogger also hopes that his brother could celebrate the Advent with his aging 92 year-old mother, who has not been informed that her son was warded in IMH.

MYANMAR NURSE PUNCHED AND KICKED IMH PATIENT CAUSING 2 FRACTURED RIBS

In February 2015, 25 year-old Aung Phyo Thu had punched, kicked, and elbowed the patient on his back, head, legs and body multiple times, which caused the latter to sustain two fractured ribs. Aung is currently out on bail, which has been set at S$20,000 and has his passport impounded. As part of his bail conditions, he is also not allowed contact with the victim. AMOS FOUND SUITABLE FOR RTC, BUT DOCTORS SAY HE SUFFERS FROM AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

District Court Judge Jasvender Kaur has sentenced Amos Yee to be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for 2 weeks while a report on his mandatory psychiatric treatment is done. His next court date is on 6th July. According to today's proceedings, teenage blogger Amos Yee was found mentally and physically suitable to undergo reformative training. The doctor who assessed Amos Yee however, found that the teenager may be suffering from autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

VOLUNTEERS AIDING POOR 4 YEAR-OLD GIRL AND MENTALLY ILL FAMILY

The founder of Keeping Hope Alive sent this to us in response to the overwhelming comments from netizens who say that they want to help the poor 4 year-old girl, Lisa, who was seen begging for food. She says that social workers and volunteers are already attending to this case and have settled most if not all of her basic necessities. However, she says that kind souls can still pitch in by buying her an insurance plan for her health or education, or have a regular volunteer to give Lisa's mother some bus fare money or a taxi driver to fetch her to go for her mental health appointments.
