Her husband went to jail for drugs in March 2012, so Robiah Lia Caniago found herself jobless with 2 children to feed. She decided to set up a curry puff business in her 2 room rental flat at Lengkok Bahru, but today her decision has cost her $3,000 in fines. As she is unable to pay the fines, she will serve a 5 day jail-sentence instead. The 40 year-old housewife Robiah, who has a 9 year-old son and a 7 year-old daughter, was caught selling her illegal curry puffs by the HDB on 2nd May last year.

Tickets to the upcoming SEA Games in Singapore are being resold online for inflated prices, according to recent reports by netizens and the media. A quick look at popular trading app Carousell saw several accounts selling multiple tickets for prices ranging from $600 to as low as $10. Some accounts did not list the prices and invited interested buyers to negotiate for the price.

ANG MOH FT CHAIN SMOKING DESPITE BEING SEATED IN NO-SMOKING AREA

Today at around 7 pm, I spotted this Ang Moh FT smoking at Newton Hawker Centre. Despite having a "NO SMOKING" sign pasted on his table, he persisted in lighting up. Worse still, he did not stop after his first smoke. He continued to smoke a second and a third causing discomfort to non-smokers around him.

TWO YOUNG MEN ARRESTED FOR PROTESTING OUTSIDE ISTANA

Two men between the ages of 24 and 25 were arrested by the police for staging a protest outside Istana yesterday afternoon (4 Apr) without a permit. Police said the 2 men turned up in front of the Istana with placards at about 4pm. They were clad in identical red hoodies and dark blue jeans.

POLICE CAR PARKED ILLEGALLY BY ROADSIDE CAUSING PEAK HOUR OBSTRUCTION

This morning 6 March 2015 between 7:45 to 8:00am I saw a police car QX525A parked irresponsibly by the road side. I know that they may be attending to case but I want to highlight a few points which I feel could be improved on. I hope the police will look into this incident and improve in future. Even if they have to park illegally by the road side, at least on their hazard light to alert other drivers.

ERRANT RETAILERS SELLING ELECTRIC BICYCLES THAT SPEEDS UP TO 120KMH

Many riders of electric bicycles here are motorcyclists who have lost their licences, with many modified versions of the bikes able to go as fast as 120kmh. Checks with several shops show that at least two of them offer modification services - even though its operators are aware that it is illegal for motorised bicycles to go faster than 25kmh. Online listings selling modified bicycles that can travel up to 80kmh can also be easily found. These vehicles are going for between $650 and $2,000.

WHY ARE TAXI COMPANIES HIRING PINOY TAXI DRIVERS NOW?

I took a cab from my office to ubi this morning and I encounter a Pinoy driving taxi in Singapore. Isn't this illegal in Singapore? I am shocked that some Taxi companies are breaking laws by hiring Pinoy to be working as Taxi drivers. Are our local taxi drivers going to be displaced as well? The pinoy speak with a very strong accent that I couldn't understand properly and he was also extremely rude to Singaporeans like me.
