ICA WARNS OF FAKE NEWS FUEL SCANNERS, PHOTOS ARE OF AUTO CLEARANCE SYSTEMS

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) refers to recent online discussions of photographs of “a fuel tank scanner” at Tuas and Woodlands checkpoints. In response to media queries, ICA would like to clarify that the photograph below shows a prototype of an Automated Passenger In-Car Clearance System, and is not a “fuel tank scanner”. The prototype is being developed to conduct trials for car travellers to perform automated immigration self-clearance using fingerprint verification. More details will be shared when available.

CAUSEWAY DELAYS NOT A RESULT OF CYBER ATTACK, BUT A TECHNICAL GLITCH, SAYS ICA

The ICA had clarified that the slowness of the immigration clearance system at the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints that caused hundreds of motorists to be stranded in the two causeways, was a result of a technical glitch, and not an act of cyber attack. This was good to hear, as that means the worldwide cyber attack had not preyed on Singapore's government computer systems, or that the computer systems in Singapore's government organisations are covered well against such attacks. However, this brings the question on why the technical glitch had to happen on the very day people worldwide were worried that the cyber attacks might cripple the running of day-to-day activities. This can be quite serious, as ICA's technical glitch happened at the causeways, essentially Singapore's first point of fight against outside terrorism.

BEWARE OF LATEST ICA SCAM CALL, SCAMMER NOW SPEAKS IN S’POREAN ACCENT!

I'm writing to alert general public: I received a SCAM CALL from the number 63916100 today. It was showing as ICA Singapore number so I trusted initially and carried on the conversation. The person who called spoke in a Singaporean accent and pretended to be an ICA Officer. From my experience the guy who was on the call was very convincing and smart and has the potential to fool anyone to extract money. I have informed the police and they have promised to advertise this scam in public interest. This is a serious issue as the number is displayed as ICA's number and the caller had the audacity to call me again and again.

ICA OFFICERS BEHAVED CHILDISHLY TOWARDS TOURIST, PROJECTS BAD IMAGE FOR SG

A passenger at the next lane I was queuing up at, was directed by the security officer to go forth for her turn. As there was an immigration officer present, and the lane was empty so she went forth. When she reached the counter, the officer stood up and walked out from a her counter, and told her the lane was closed. Then, she moved over to another counter , walked all the way , and this other officer also got up, came out and rudely gestured that the lane was closing. When passenger approached another officer, in anger, the officer quickly blamed the security officer even though it was their fault for their ignorance of informing that their lane was closing , whereas I noticed a few other officers who informed before hand.
